Na noite do último domingo (30), aconteceu nos Estados Unidos, umas das maiores premiações da música a nível mundial, o MTV Video Music Awards 2020, mais conhecido como VMA. O plano inicial era que o evento acontecesse na arena Barclays Center, mas por conta da pandemia do novo Coronavírus, a edição teve que ser adaptada com palcos espalhados em diferentes pontos da cidade de Nova York.

Essa foi a primeira grande premiação ao vivo realizada desde o início da pandemia. Considerando o momento que estamos vivendo, algumas categorias do evento foram reformuladas e duas foram acrescentadas: “Melhor Clipe Feito em Casa” e “Melhor Performance da Quarentena”.

A abertura do VMA 2020 ficou por conta do canadense The Weeknd. Com um terno vermelho e com maquiagem simulando ferimentos no rosto (características de seu álbum “After Hours”) o cantor fez uma apresentação de “’Blinding Lights”. O artista ganhou como “Clipe do Ano”, a principal categoria da noite, e também levou o “Melhor Clipe de R&B”.

Dentre todos os artistas presentes da noite, o destaque ficou para a cantora estadunidense Lady Gaga. Além de causar com seu look e chamar a atenção pela máscara escolhida para sua apresentação, a artista levou cinco prêmios para a casa. No palco, Gaga fez um medley de suas músicas e ainda realizou uma performance especial de “Rain on Me” ao lado da estrela do pop Ariana Grande. Confira:

Ariana também foi uma das mais premiadas do evento. A artista ganhou quatro categorias, três delas ao lado de Gaga com “Rain on Me”, e outra pela canção “Stuck with U” feat Justin Bieber, escolhida como “Melhor Clipe Feito em Casa”.

A boyband CNCO chegou com tudo para representar a música latina na premiação. O grupo fez uma performance incrível de seu novo single “Beso”.
